We conduct research and education in physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, industrial design engineering, and didactics in mathematics and science education. Our department offers unique and world-leading research within the FSCN Research Centre and Sports Tech Research Centre.

At the Department of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science Education, our focus is on research and education in various fields, including physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, industrial design engineering, and didactics in mathematics and science education. Our commitment extends to delivering unique and world-leading research through the FSCN Research Centre and Sports Tech Research Centre.

The Surface and Colloid Engineering research group primarily focuses on biopolymers in various materials applications. This doctoral student project aims to investigate biopolymer-mineralization through CO2 utilization via a carbonation process. The objective is to produce inorganic-organic composite materials. Such mineralization techniques hold promise for developing diverse technological materials, from tissue-friendly scaffolds in biomedical applications to innovative materials for the construction industry. The project’s vision includes exploring how mineralization can efficiently contribute to carbon capture and storage, offering new technologies to reduce direct CO2 emissions and combat global warming. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, the project may involve both experimental and theoretical work.

  • To be considered for a PhD position, the applicant must meet the entry requirements for admission to Mid Sweden University’s third-cycle program.
  • These requirements include having a second-cycle degree or completing at least 240 ETCS credits, with at least 60 credits in second-cycle courses.
  • Additionally, 90 of the total 240 credits must be in chemistry/chemical engineering or closely related subjects.
  • Applicants may still be eligible if they have obtained equivalent knowledge through other means.
  • The final selection process includes assessing other work, such as thesis projects, along with applicants’ courses and interviews.
