Cutting-Edge Research Project: Exploring Novel Sensing Techniques for Enhanced Wireless Communication Efficiency

Embark on an exciting investigation into pioneering methods aimed at revolutionizing wireless communication efficiency. This comprehensive study, tailored to meet the demands of future communication networks, delves into both optical and radio frequencies for seamless integration of sensing capabilities alongside wireless communication functionalities. With the potential to streamline data transmission, identify nearby objects akin to radar systems, and extract precise location information from sensor data, this project promises groundbreaking advancements. Of particular interest is the investigation into electromagnetically induced transparency using Rydberg atoms, presenting a cutting-edge avenue for transformative breakthroughs in wireless technology.

  • Minimum entry qualification – an Honours degree at 2:1 or above (or International equivalent) in Physics, Electronic and Electrical Engineering or related discipline, possibly supported by an MSc Degree
  • Further information on English language requirements for EU/Overseas applicants.
  • For this project, we seek an ideal candidate holding a bachelor’s degree and MSc/MEng in physics, electronic and electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • A keen interest in experimental work, coupled with proficiency in developing and applying mathematical modeling techniques, is essential.
  • Additionally, candidates must fulfill the prerequisite of submitting and obtaining approval for a researcher form from the project funder before commencing the post.
